Apple Watch and Wear OS apps
What the Unicam watch apps do, how they pair automatically through your phone, and what to do if the watch says to open Unicam on your phone.
Updated 17 October 2026
The watch apps are for quick decisions, not for watching video. They’re included on Plus and Pro.
What you can do
- Switch mode: Home, Away or Night in one tap. It’s also a watch-face complication on Apple Watch and a tile on Wear OS that switches mode without opening the app.
- Make a camera private: a “Private at home” switch on each camera, with paused cameras marked.
- Snooze alerts: 30 minutes, an hour or until 7:00, with resume.
- Check the hub: whether it’s online, how many cameras are recording, and storage or backup issues.
- See recent events: person, vehicle, package and animal, each with its still snapshot. Mark them Seen or Star them.
- Glance at a camera: a still snapshot for each camera, tap to refresh. There’s no live stream on the watch.
Alerts on the watch have Mark seen, Star and Snooze 1 h buttons.
Pairing is automatic
Install the watch app: on iPhone it comes with the phone app; on Android, install Unicam on the watch from the Play Store on the watch. Then open Unicam on your phone while it’s signed in to your hub.
The phone pairs the watch as its own device with its own token, so it appears separately under Privacy & security → Sessions and can be revoked without signing out your phone. The hub address and token go to the watch over the encrypted phone-to-watch link. Nothing goes through Unicam’s servers.
Away from home
The watch reaches your hub through your phone’s connection or Wi‑Fi, so away from home it uses the Tailscale address, like your phone. See Remote access.
If the watch says…
- “Open Unicam on your phone”: open the phone app once with the watch nearby.
- It was signed out: its session was revoked. Opening the phone app pairs it again.
