Storage destinations
Record to S3, Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2 or Wasabi
Use any S3-compatible bucket as a Unicam destination. What to enter, which provider to pick and how share links work.
Updated 17 October 2026
S3-compatible object storage is the best fit for 24/7 recording or many cameras: cheap per terabyte and with no daily upload cap.
What you need
From your provider’s console:
- Create a bucket for Unicam.
- Create an access key limited to that bucket, with read and write permission.
- Note the endpoint (the S3 API address) and region.
Then in Unicam, open Storage → Add destination → S3-compatible and enter the endpoint, region, bucket, access key ID and secret.
Picking a provider
- Backblaze B2: low cost per terabyte, a common choice for long retention.
- Cloudflare R2: no egress (download) fees, handy if you watch a lot of old footage.
- Wasabi: flat pricing, no egress fees.
- AWS S3: works, usually the most expensive for this.
- MinIO: self-hosted S3 on your own server or NAS.
Good to know
- Footage is encrypted on the hub before upload; the bucket only holds ciphertext.
- If you change a destination’s endpoint, Unicam clears its saved keys, so they’re never sent to a different server by mistake. Re-enter them.
- Endpoints on your own machine or link-local addresses are blocked for safety.
- Share links from S3 are pre-signed and valid for up to 7 days (for destinations without encryption).
- Retention and storage limits work the same as other destinations. See Retention and disk space.
